What does it mean when one of the applications on my MT-pro menu is displayed in brackets? (5/1/2007)
This is related to the license key. An application shown in brackets normally indicates that the current subscription and related license key does not cover this manufacturer. We have had instances of users 'losing' applications, this can be rectified by using the 'Update license' function in the Multi-Cartridge manager software and 'Copying' and 'Pasting' the existing license key.

Vehicles fitted with 16-Pin OBD connector
Use either the CAN1 or CAN2 cable, if an application requires the CAN2 cable a message will appear telling you that you must use the CAN2 cable. Where power is not available from the OBD connector (as seen when connecting to early Suzuki models), battery power should be provided using the connector on the side of the Multi-Cable.
-
Vehicles fitted with manufacturer specific connectors
Adaptors that convert from the OBD connector to manufacturer specific connectors should only be used with the standard 16-pin OBD cable (A0903011). Do NOT use the CAN1/2 cable with these adaptors as communications may fail.

What configuration functions are possible on the P38 body control system? (12/3/2007)
Using the MT-Pro Landrover Pro-Line software it is possible to change the configuration of the BCM on a P38 model. This will allow changes such as whether Front Fog lamps are fitted or not. What this function can not offer is the programming of a new body control module.
-
Why is it sometimes difficult to communicate with Land Rover Freelander systems? (5/1/2007)
We have found that the diagnostic mode on a Freelander can often prevent communications if the vehicle has been left un-locked for a certain length of time. We would always advise locking the vehicle using the remote 'plip' and leaving for a couple of minutes before re-attempting communication.
-
Why does it take such a long time for the Air Suspension system fitted to the Range Rover P38's (1995-2001) to re-fill after DTC's have been cleared? (5/1/2007)
You must ensure that all vehicle doors, tailgate and bonnet are closed to allow the system to operate correctly. As a safety measure the ECU will not allow any suspension height changes until these requirements have been met.
-
Why can't I communicate with the ABS system fitted to a 2004 Land Rover Freelander TD4? I am using software v3.17 (27/6/2006)
After some research we have found that later Freelander models (2003 on) have a variant of the currently supported Teves ABS system. We have updated the Land Rover application to include this variant in release 3.20.
-
I have been struggling to diagnose a fault on the climate system fitted to a 1998 P38 Range Rover Diesel. The DTCs and monitor list work fine but the activations don't appear to do anything! (27/6/2006)
This could be a simple user error. For the activations to work on this system the climate control system must be switched to 'AUTO' on. This is quite common on other non Land Rover systems as well.

When using the Mercedes application V3.28 I am experiencing problems communicating with vehicles fitted with the 38 pin socket. When I select an ecu from the menu and attempt to communicate I only get as far as seeing a blank screen after the 'egg timer' has stopped spinning. (13/9/2006)
We have looked into this issue and found that communications are being made correctly but we have a small problem which is preventing the menu being displayed correctly. To work round this issue simply press when you reach the 'blank' screen, this will select the item at the top of the 'Invisible' menu. From this point on the display should be OK. We are currently working on a fix and hope to release an updated Mercedes application soon.

I have noticed that you now offer BSI configuration in the Peugeot / Citroen application, does this mean I can program a replacement unit? (2/8/2006)
Unfortunately we can only configure the BSI at present, when replacing the BSI the new unit must be programmed to the vehicle then configured for optional fitments. We are investigating the possability of adding this function. If you need to replace a BSI, are within an hour of Stockport and would like to help then contact Rob Sculfor on 07795 643189 or email rob.sculfor@autodiagnos.com

-
Why does the Renault application repeatedly ask me to turn the ignition ‘on’ and ‘off’ when attempting to communicate with an ECU? (20/9/2006)
When the Renault application determines which ECU is fitted to a vehicle we attempt communications using several different Multi-Cable configurations. When the Multi-Cable is configured the ignition must be ‘off’ otherwise the Multi-Cable will not be configured correctly.
-
Can I program a new injector code into the Delphi engine control system fitted to a Renault Clio 1.5 dCi? (18/5/2006)
Yes, we have added this function to version 4.23 of the Renault application.

How can I change the wheel set programmed on a 2003 Laguna II 1.9dCi tyre monitor system from 'Winter' to 'Summer' set? I have manually re-entered all 4 valve codes and changed their status from summer to winter but have been told the Renault dealers do it a different way. (27/6/2006)
We have checked the tyre monitor system and have found a function that was originally missed off the software that allows the wheel set to be swapped. This has been added on version 4.23 of the Renault application.
-
How do you switch the ignition 'ON' without having the engine running on the latest shape Renault Megane II models? (13/7/2006)
There are occasions when it is necessary to have the ignition 'ON' without the engine running to perform diagnostic sequences, this is not straight forward on the Megane II models. The method we have found to work is as follows:
1. Unlock the car with the remote (Card).
2. Insert card in to the card reader
3. Without pressing the brake or clutch pedal you must push and hold the 'START' button for 5 to 10 seconds. When the dash illuminates you can release the button. When you have finished the diagnostic sequence it is better to press and release the 'START' button once more (Clutch or Brake 'ON') to run the engine, then 'STOP' the engine.

When will the MT-pro be capable of carrying out the adaptions required to successfully reset the service interval on Mk 5 Golf to a 'Long Life' interval? (5/1/2007)
We will soon be releasing an updated version of the VAG software (V3.42) which will support 'Adaptions' on all the controllers available on the 1F (CAN) network. This software will also include a simple 'walk through' mode within the instruments (17) controller which will allow all the combinations of service reset to be set.
-
Why do I sometimes struggle to communicate with a Golf Mk5? (21/7/2006)
Many late VW/Audi vehicles use the CAN network for diagnostics. We identified that there were some issues with the reliability of our CAN communications within the VAG application and have produced an update version 3.26 to resolve these issues.
-

I have just been using the latest Volvo application (V0.28) and got the message 'Please connect the Volvo CAN dongle in between the Multi-Cable and CAN 1 cable' What does this mean? (5/1/2007)
The Volvo 'Dongle' is an extra piece of hardware that connects between the Multi-Cable and CAN1 cable and enables correct 'signal routing' required for Low Speed CAN systems. The dongle (part number A0192- is silver in colour and approximately 50mm X 25mm in size.

Unknown DTCs within the Volvo Application(1999->) (25/9/2006)
Under correct use, the Volvo application will very rarely return unknown DTCs to the user. However, there is a situation when the user may experience this. This may happen when the ECU cannot be recognised from the identifier code returned when queried. This can happen when an ECU has been updated with later software by the dealer. When this happens the Volvo application can't identify it correctly so has to rely on the information entered by the user, i.e. the model, model year and system. It is quite possible for the model year selected to be incorrect. Therefore, it is always useful to try accessing the system using the model year either side of the one originally selected. Should the user still experience the same unknown DTC then please contact Autodiagnos supplying the full vehicle details including VIN, the ECU identifier string, ECUDIAG code (if displayed) and the unknown DTC number so this can be investigated.
-
Why can't I erase DTCs on ABS / SRS / EMS system on Volvo? (21/7/2006)
Some of the systems fitted to Volvo require particular sequence of operations to erase DTCs. For example some EMS (Engine Management System) require the ignition to be cycled OFF then ON again before they will erase, like wise the DTCs may not set unless the engine has been running for some time.
Some Antilock Braking Systems (ABS) systems will not set a DTC unless the vehicle has been driven above 5Km/h and then checked without the ignition being turned off. Also, some other ABS systems will not turn the warning light off until the car has been driven above 40 Km/h and assuming that no new DTCs have been set.
It should also not be forgotten that if a fault code status is displayed as "Permanent" the fault needs to be rectified before it can be erased. You will know when the fault has been rectified or "gone away" as the status will change to "Intermittent". This is applies to all systems, especially Supplementary Restraint Systems (SRS).
Finally, it has been noted that some variants of the control modules require a specific erase sequence to be performed by the tester which is not happening. These variants are currently being investigated and further improvements will be made within the very near future.

I'm having communication problems on Volvo 1999-> vehicles. Is there anything I can do? (22/7/2006
Due to the complexity of the application and the huge variation in systems fitted to these vehicles, there will be occasions when you may not be able to communicate with a vehicle. When this happens we really need your feedback to help us identify these problems. Below is a list of the information that would really help us identify and fix these problems:-
- Software details - We need to know what version of the application you are using (found on the main Select Application menu) as well as the version of the Slave (found on the MT-Pro Menu).
- Vehicle details - Model, Model Year, Engine Code and most important the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) as this helps us to correctly identify the vehicle.
- System details - The system you are attempting to connect to. If the application does connect, it will display the ECU Identifier (usually 8 digits and 3 characters displayed within brackets). Sometimes it will also display an ECUDIAGID number (2 - 4 digits). These details tell us what the system is on the car.
- Error messages - When the application fails, it will display various message boxes informing the user of an error. However, if the DEBUG mode is turned on there is may well be an additional message box displayed with the text "Invalid CAN response received!". Under this text will be a line of (hex) numbers in brackets, i.e. (0 DE 80 6B) These will be very useful in allowing us to identify what went wrong.
