Frequently Asked Questions - General

Adaptors that convert from the OBD connector to manufacturer specific connectors should only be used with the standard 16-pin OBD cable (A0903011). Do NOT use the CAN1/2 cable with these adaptors as communications may fail.

Use either the CAN1 or CAN2 cable, if an application requires the CAN2 cable a message will appear telling you that you must use the CAN2 cable. Where power is not available from the OBD connector (as seen when connecting to early Suzuki models), battery power should be provided using the connector on the side of the Multi-Cable.

We have created a 'Quickstart Guide' to show how to install and use the Multi-Tester Pro, this includes a clear picture guide of how to connect the cables. 'Click here' to view the guide (3MB .pdf file). If you cannot view this file, please observe the following connection instructions.

Power the MT-Pro on. At the main Select Application menu, press F3 to enter the Config menu. With the MT-Pro Menu item selected, press ENTER. When MT-Pro Menu is displayed, press F3 again. The DEBUG mode is now turned on. Press EXIT twice to return to the main Select Application menu. Note that when the power is removed from the MT-Pro, DEBUG mode will be turned off.

This is related to the license key. An application shown in brackets normally indicates that the current subscription and related license key does not cover this manufacturer. We have had instances of users 'losing' applications, this can be rectified by using the 'Update license' function in the Multi-Cartridge manager software and 'Copying' and 'Pasting' the existing license key.

The Multi-Cartridge Manager application will not automatically install the correct drivers to allow it to work with Windows Vista. To manaually install these drivers please see read the information in our 'Bulletins' section.
